Wonderful Writing

We are expert writers in Room 1.  We are always trying to improve so that we can be the star writer of the day.  Here are some of our cool stories.

100 Day Party

We have been counting the days since starting school. A few weeks ago, we reached 100 days at school. This gave us a great opportunity to do many activities around 100. We each collected a set of 100 things and shared these with our class. We made 100 day glasses and played 100 day games, it was lots of fun.

Aliens

We made aliens with Room 3. We made them out of play dough. Once we had finished making our aliens we also made houses or space ships for them. It was lots of fun. It was nice having room 3 in our class.

Autumn Art

We have had lots of fun this week looking at Autumn leaves.  We found out they make a crunching sound when we stand on them.  They feel rough and look really cool when we throw them up in the air.  We collected lots of leaves of different size and colour.

Easter

We have been having lots of Easter fun this week. We have been making patterns in maths, writing about Easter and making delicious chocolate nests. Today we finished making our Easter baskets and went on an Easter egg hunt. We even found that the Easter bunny had left a chocolate in our nests, yum yum.
We all hope you have a great Easter holiday, don't have too much chocolate and have lots of fun!

Move It!

After working so hard on our marble tracks, we finally got to present them to the Junior Syndicate and our parents. We have had a great time making our marble tracks.

We found out that the marbles moved fastest on smooth surfaces and needed height to make them roll.

Our marble tracks all had to have: a start point, a corner, a drop and an end point.

Maths

Room One has been focusing on statistics.  In this activity, Miss Charmley asked us what our favourite fruit was.  We drew a picture of our favourite fruit and then sorted them into the correct category.

Star Writing

Here are two of Room 1's star writers.   

Marble Tracks

Our new topic is marble tracks. 

We watched some youtube clips of other children's marble tracks.  We then tested marbles on different surfaces.  We found out that marbles move better on hard surfaces and that they go faster if they are going down hill.  We then tried to make our own ones.  Some of us found it very tricky and had to keep trying to improve our marble tracks.  Here are some of our first attempts.  Let us know what you think of them.  Thanks for watching.

The Three Little Pigs

We built houses for the three little pigs.  We had chimneys, windows, doors and traps for the big bad wolf.  We hope you like them!

Room One have been learning about the life cycles of honey bees this week.  We have learnt about different types of bees, how bees grow and how they defend their nest.

Today we have had a bee discovery day.  We made bee hives using recycled materials.

Laila said: "This is an opening for the ants so they get tricked and go the wrong way, away from the honey".

Daniel said "The bee was very hungry so he sucked up some nectar from a flower".

"This is a boat hive, because the ants don't like water, so they can't get in to steal the honey".
